Rijsel – A modern French/Flemish Classic in Amsterdam
One of my all time favorites, Rijsel is a classy yet modern French restaurant, famous for their rotisserie chicken and Côte de Boeuf nights.
Could this be Amsterdam’s best patisserie? I would argue it is. Founded in 1969 by Cees Holtkamp (a living legend) and his wife Petra. The couple host their patisserie/bakery in a tiny yet beautiful art deco style building on the Vijzelgracht. The interior hasn’t changed since 1928 and that’s great news.
Zuid As. Amsterdam’s financial district. An area where you’ll find plenty of pricey restaurants. An authentic restaurant that focusses on seasonal products and quality instead of overpriced sushi is a bit harder to find. Hidden in the Beatrixpark, there’s Restaurant As.
