Gs Really Nice Place – Boozy brunch

by Thijs | Oh Twenty   ·  4 years ago

A hiphop themed brunch place in de Pijp. People go here for chicken & waffle and the best bloody marys in town. Just try to leave at some point. Because the whole vibe this place gives off is great, and they have more drinks than you can drink.

Brunch as we know it only has been a thing in Amsterdam since a few years. Gs was one of the pioneers. Before they came along, brunch in Amsterdam was just a late breakfast.

But then came Gs Realy Nice place. Where they do brunch the right way. Classics like chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict and French toast. But also some hiphop inspired dishes like the ‘dirty south’, the ‘in da clubsandwich’ and the ‘Faburrito’ named after Dutch rapper and one of the owner of the restaurant; Faberyayo.

Day drinking

And the best part about brunch is that it’s the only moment where drinking with your breakfast is not frowned upon, but encouraged. Mimosas and champagne are on the menu, obviously. But since you’re at the place in town where they make the best bloody mary’s it would be a shame not to try one or two. They have 12 different kinds, so I dare you to try them all. My personal favorites: the bloody cartel (with mezcal), the bloody kimchi or the bloody Fuego (with a splash of their homemade hot sauce. €4 per sold unit is donated to @ZwartLivesMatter, a local anti-racism organisation.)

Gs is located in de Pijp. Reservations through their website are encouraged. But, if you still need to cross that canal tour from your to-do list. Gs got you covered too. On Saturdays and Sundays, the Gs Brunch Boat departs from Keizersgracht 198 to serve their brunch. On a boat. Also, On the Amsterdam canals. With as many bloody marys as you can drink. Highly recommended. For more recommendations visit our home page.
