Leave it up to the legendary Koninklijk Theater Carré to make the best of the current situation. When all shows in this 1887 Theater got canceled they knew just what to do. Having one of the best spots at the Amstel river, they built a temporary terrace and named it Carré Terras op de Amstel, of course.
Hosted by Amsterdam’s best restaurants
The terras hosts pop-up restaurants by some of my favorites, like Café Binnenvisser, Bord’Eau, GUTS, and Breda. I haven’t been there for dinner yet, but…
They have my favorite bar snack ever. Bitterballen. Yes you can get those everywhere, but not these. Made by Amsterdam classic Patisserie Holtkamp (check out my review here). They’re crunchy. The filling is amazing. I can’t wait to get back to have some more.
They take reservations for lunch and dinner. No one knows how long Carré will host, but I hope it’s here to stay for some time. But for now, get over there, put your feet in the sand, and enjoy it while it lasts.
